Getting Started With Beekeeping

July 29th, 2010

When getting started with beekeeping, it can be quite a daunting prospect at first with many people not knowing where to start. However, once you have familiarized yourself with what is required then you will be well on your way to having your own ready supply of honey for you, or perhaps you may be considering beekeeping as a home business.

Before you even start thinking about keeping bees, you should check out the legal position. In most countries there are no particular restrictions, so provided you take precautions to prevent swarming and maintain good relations with your neighbors you should not have any problems. In other countries, however, there are certain restrictions. In the United States, for example, you will require a license to keep bees. There are some communities within the United States who have banned domestic beekeeping altogether, so you need to check your local legislation carefully.

Your next consideration is your bee hive. There are a number of different hives to choose from, but the one in most common use is the Langstroth. This is a movable frame hive which allows good access all areas whilst minimising damage to the bees. In the United Kingdom the British National Hive is the most common, which is very similar to the Langstroth, but a little smaller.

You can source your honeybees either from an established beekeeper, or from a reputable specialist supplier. It is most likely that the supplier will send your starter colony of bees by mail order in a nucleus hive. You may find that there is a beekeeping association local to where you live who can recommend a reliable source of bees. There are some beekeepers who will source their bees from a swarm, but this is not recommended for beginner beekeepers.

Beekeeping is not a straightforward hobby like coin collecting. It’s a hobby where you learn, go outside to work, and then enjoy the rewards when you harvest your first crop of honey. However, it is definitely a hobby where it is important to learn how to do it properly, but the rewards certainly make it worthwhile.

How to Start Love Over Again – Bring Your Relationship Back From the Brink of Death

July 26th, 2010

I’m a big fan of Grey’s Anatomy and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched as Meredith, George, or Izzy bring back a patient from the brink of death.  It is always a terrifying moment when you don’t know if the person lying on the table is going to make it, but when they do it is absolutely exhilarating.  And it is usually the skills of the doctor that make the difference.

It’s the same way with relationships.   You may have recently broken up with someone that you loved deeply, and you are wondering if you can get them back and how to start love over again with this very special person.  I believe that their are no impossible situations, and that no matter how bad it seems right now, you can start love over again.  You see, I’ve been studying relationships and what makes them work for about 15  years now, and I have seen people beat impossible odds.  Just like in Grey’s Anatomy though a lot of whether you can succeed or not, depends on how much you know about how to bring a relationship back from the brink of death.

How To Start Love Over Again – Relationship Rescue 101:

This article is far to short to cover every possible thing you need to know to rescue your lost love, but I am going to give you one tip that will help tremendously.  This is something my Mom told me during my tumultuous teens, and that I really didn’t understand well until later in my life.  In fact, this is such a common mom expression that you may have heard it from your mom too.

This is what she said to me – “You catch more bees with honey than with vinegar”.  I’m sure you have heard this expression before, but it is so true.  I have found that during very stressful times (like break ups), I typically become bitter and angry and desperate.  This has, on occasion, prompted me to be nasty, and bitter, and desperate to the very people that I have wanted to have a good relationship with.  That is like using vinegar to attract bees.  It just doesn’t work really well.  In fact, if you express your extreme displeasure (which you will and should deal with when you are calmer) to your ex during the beginning of the getting back together process, then you have a good chance of driving them away.

The magic is in the “honey”.  After a break up is is easy to poison your words and actions with vinegar, by acting desperate and mean (I know I’ve sure done this).  What works so much better is what I call distant politeness.  Right after a break up when you are trying to patch together not only your relationship, but also your entire world, you need to be able to create some distance between you and your ex… that way you can gain some much needed perspective.  But, what do you do when you do have to interact with them?  You treat them with respect and politeness.  Be careful not to get too drawn in to a lengthy conversation (although I know it is tempting).  Simply acknowledge them politely and move on.

This politeness will begin to draw your ex back like a bee to honey.  It is amazing how well it works.

Do you want to know exactly how to start love over again? I have discovered a system that takes you by the hand and leads you step by step back to your lost love.

No matter how bad things seem right now, this system works Is has helped over 6100 people and it can help you too.

Scrubs Fashion From Your Favorite Medical Television Shows

July 25th, 2010

Flipping through the channels these days you will find handsome actors and actresses alike dressed in hospital scrubs on nearly all of the major networks. Television and the movies certainly have inspired many a fashion trend, which in recent years has extended to the fictitious hospital staff of hospital shows from Scrubs to ER to Grey’s Anatomy. These men and women play parts inspired by real-life medical professionals who save lives every day. They also set the trend for medical scrub fashion. It might not be the red carpet, but it certainly is another sort of stage where fashion and function met on a regular basis.

Grey’s Anatomy scrubs are designed to keep up with the ever-changing schedule of surgeons. While the television show follows surgeons at the fictitious Seattle Grace Mercy Hospital West, located in Seattle, Washington the scrub fashion on the show showcased a diverse color base to meet the specific needs of different sexes and body types of the cast. There are many more scrub fashion trends to look for on upcoming episodes, as the show has been renewed for a 7th season.

It would be impossible to mention Grey’s Anatomy without mentioning Katherine Heigl scrubs. Not only is Katherine Heigl one of the shows stars, with a 2007 Emmy under her belt for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in her role as Izzie; but she always looks professional and put together regardless of the on-screen drama. Her medical fashion sense is a mix of classic and fun and change of pace from her red-carpet glamour.

The all all-star cast of NBC’s hit television show Scrubs just completed its ninth and final season. Featuring cast members in a wide-range of medical scrubs, this show focused on the men and women employed at the new Sacred Heart Hospital on the Winston University Campus. While other medical shows focused on drama, Scrubs address the challenges and stresses of a busy hospital by making viewers laugh. Its cast also represented a more diverse employee base within any given hospital, with janitors and chef surgeons all sharing screen time.

Another classic American medical drama that recently closed its doors to viewers was ER, created by acclaimed novelist Michael Crichton. Not only did this show help launch the careers of George Clooney, Anthony Edwards and Julianna Marguliles, it showcased scrub trends for medical professionals in the Chicago area, where cold weather creates unique challenges. Second only to Law and Order, ER is the longest running show on NBC and certainly inspired many other hospitals dramas that followed.

Now fashionistas within the medical community can replicate the looks from his/her favorite medical-themed television shows with hospital scrubs, Katherine Heigl scrubs and Grey’s Anatomy scrubs from Scrubs & Beyond. To check out the latest Hollywood-inspired styles visit Scrubs & Beyond today!
